Sunsets and Souvlaki in paradise

Tropical cocktails on the water, fashion boutiques for every summer style or trend, and sunset strolls surrounded by the simple yet stunning architecture of Greece. Every year, travelers from around the world flock to Mykonos for an extravagant party experience of a lifetime.

This island paradise is sure to exceed your expectations if you’re looking for some extra fun in the sun (or stars!) before the summer’s over. Known for its unforgettable views and vibrant nightlife, see why Mykonos is attracting tourists from all over the globe.

By air, by sea

Since it’s an island, you’ll have to get to Mykonos either by air or by sea. You can take a 30-minute flight from Athens for a plane ride filled with breathtaking views, or by ferry if you don’t get seasick easily! There are also a few cruises that make overnight stops on the island, which is a great option if you want to visit multiple Greek/European destinations in one trip.

If you’re from the United States, keep in mind you’ll probably need to make a few connecting flights. Check out the Visit Mykonos website and scroll down for a list for available flights and ferries!

The Isle of Wind

Time to explore the island! First stop, the Mykonos windmills (also known as Kato Milli or Kato Myli). Enjoy the scenery of Chora and beyond while exploring these historical buildings! This sightseeing hike is a romantic escape for your last night on the island, and will take you less than an hour.

Are you a beach bum? For the best places to get some sand in between your toes and salt in your hair, check out Paradise Beach to party, Psarou Beach for views, and Fokos Beach for some alone time.

The Mykonos Folklore Museum is a goldmine of history if you want to learn more about Mykonos’ culture. A variety of Greek artifacts, pottery, photographs, and other miscellaneous tools can be found in preserved homes-turned-exhibits for your viewing pleasure.

Fun fact. The island is named after its first ruler, Mykonos, who was a local hero and grandson of Apollo (god of music and dance).

Souvlaki and a Martini, please

You won’t run out of places to eat and drink, especially if you’re into seafood and Greek cuisine. Need a fruity cocktail to quench your thirst on the beach? Savory souvlaki cooked with ingredients grown locally? How about some Greek-Italian fusion in Little Venice? Mykonos has got it all.

Some of our favorite recommendations and honorable mentions: Pepper, Katerina’s, Avra, Kastro’s, and Funky Kitchen.

Footloose in Paradise

By the shore or up in the hills, from dawn till dusk, this island paradise really doesn’t sleep! When the sun goes down, Mykonos lights up. Can’t end your night without a dance? Try these bars/clubs and let the party continue: Queen of Mykonos, Astra, 54 Cocktail Bar & Sunset Lounge, Negrita Bar, and 180° Sunset Bar.

Time for some Z’s

Have you ever woken up in a place like this? Choose from a variety of luxury hotels like Absolute, Cavo Tagoo, and Myconian Naia if you’re a lover of spas and suites. You can also stay at Eleanna’s Hotel, Belvedere, or Semeli if you’d prefer to be near the heart of Mykonos Town, Chora (also known as Hora).
